This glossary details key terms used through GatedContent.com reports.


Gate loadA single load of a gate on a webpage. This will normally coincide with the page load and is not dependent on user interaction. All gates record this event.
Form viewA single view, by a user, of a form on a gate. For inline gates, this is when the form scrolls into view. For modal gates, it's when the user opens the gate. Only gates with a visible form record this event.
Form startThis action is recorded when the user starts interacting with fields on a gate's form. For fully pre-populated gates, this event is recorded when the user submits the form. This event is not recorded by blind submission gates. 
Form submissionThis action is recorded when a user directly submits a gate's form. This event is not recorded by blind submission gates.

Content consumptionWhen a user downloads an asset such as a PDF or view media such as a video, a content consumption is recorded.
Visitor sessionA single session from one visitor that included at least one gate load. This coincides with a browser session and normally ends when the user closes the browser tab.
Converting sessionA visitor session that included at least one form submission.
Session conversion rateThe percentage of visitor sessions that resulted in at least one form submission.
Form conversion rateThe percentage of form views that resulted in a form submission.
Page conversion rateThe number of gate loads that resulted in a form submission.
Form completion rateThe percentage of form starts that resulted in a form submission.
Form abandonment rateThe percentage of form starts that did not result in a form submission.
DirectUsed in channel attribution to define traffic which has no referrer.
OtherUsed in channel attribution to define traffic which has a referrer that is not included in the main list.
