Connecting your Marketing Automation Platform
In order to the following features to work GatedContent.com needs to connect to your Marketing Automation Platform. Different Marketing Automation Platforms connect in different ways so contact your account manager and they will let you know what information is required depending on your MAP.
Install GatedContent.com on Your Web Instance
To enable GatedContent.com Forms on your website you will need to install the script on every page you will be deploying gates to.
Create New Fields
Your initial account deployment will either be blank or include a set of default fields that can be added to form types. You can modify these fields and create new ones.
Create Form Types (Templates)
Once you have all your fields set up they can be added to your form types. Form types are the templates your gate editors can choose from.
Form Styling
The look and feel of your gates can be customised in the manage styles area located in the left side menu. There are two tabs; one for base styles and one where your media queries will go for responsive design. You can write styles in CSS and SASS.
Deploy your First Gate to a Web Page
Now you have all the key elements configured in your account you can create and deploy your first gate. Remember you will need to have the GatedContent.com script and your marketing automation tracking script on the page too.
Enable Form Field Prepopulation
Fields can be pre-populated with data from various sources whilst the form is loading. Depending on your data source different information will be required to configure prepopulation in the GatedContent.com back end. Contact your account manager and they will let you know what information is required.
In the manage fields area, you will find a prepopulation dropdown field. These allow you to select the input for any pre-population required. Pre-population will greatly increase the forms UX and optimisation by completing as many steps as possible on the users behalf. Depending on your selection different information will be required.
Configure Events for Analytics
The Event Manager enables administrators to set up custom JavaScript code which will fire in response to a user's actions on a gate. Events can be raised through Tag Managers (e.g. Tealium, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Tag Manager) or sent directly to analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) for reporting and analytics.
Set Up Your Folder Structure
In the browse gates area you have the ability to create the folders which store your gates. We would highly recommended planning your folder structure, hierarchy and gate naming conventions in advance. This will help you find the correct gate more easily and enable you to restrict access to certain folders using the manager groups function.

Using the Manage Roles Area in the GatedContent.com platform it is possible for Administrators to control what users can access and edit. Your account will start with five default roles; Administrator, Basic User, Editor, Manager and Translator. These can all be edited or you can create new roles. This is an optional feature and may not be installed on your account.
Enable Languages and Update Translations
Administrators can navigate to the Manage Languages area where they will be presented with a list of available languages that can be activated.
Once you have activated the relevant languages you will need to provide translations for each available phrase. These can be edited one by one or via a bulk update. This is an optional feature and may not be installed on your account.
